EMU to Host BGSU in First of Six MAC Cross-Divisional Games

STRONG START: EMU's 10-8 record this season is the best start since the 2002-03 squad went 10-9 in its first 19 games.
CHECKING THE SERIES WITH BGSU: The Eagles and Falcons will be meeting for the 82nd time with BGSU holding a 43-38 edge in the series that started in the 1915-16 season. BGSU won three straight games from 2004-05 through 2005-06 and EMU has returned that favor with wins in the last three contests. Last season the Eagles recorded a 65-57 victory in Bowling Green, Ohio, Feb. 15, 2009.
Head Coach Charles E. Ramsey's Eagles enter Wednesday's game with a 10-8 overall record and a 2-3 MAC mark after capturing a 57-53 MAC West Division win over a visiting Ball State University team, Jan. 23.
Head Coach Louis Orr's Falcons are currently 9-8 overall and 2-3 in league play. The Falcons dropped a 64-52 battle at Miami, Jan. 23.
EAGLES HEAD INTO EAST DIVISION PLAY: After opening the Mid-American Conference season with five straight West Division opponents, the Eagles now turn their attention to the East Division with a six-game slate against cross-divisional rivals. Bowling Green will be EMU's first East Division exposure of the season when the Eagles host the Falcons, Wednesday, Jan. 27. After that game the Eagles play at Miami, Jan. 30, and at Akron, Feb. 1, before hosting Kent State, Feb. 4, and Ohio, Feb. 6. EMU closes out the East Division regular-season schedule, Feb. 10, at Buffalo.
NEARING A CENTURY: EMU seniors Justin Dobbins (Cleveland, Ohio-Glenville) and Carlos Medlock (Detroit, Mich.-Murray Wright) are both close to the 100-games played mark for their careers. Dobbins has played in 99 games for the Eagles, starting 83 times, while Medlock has played in 95, earning 94 starts.
MEDLOCK, DOBBINS, BOWDRY CLIMB EMU CAREER LADDERS: The EMU trio of Carlos Medlock (Detroit, Mich.-Murray Wright), Justin Dobbins (Cleveland, Ohio-Glenville), and Brandon Bowdry (St. Louis, Mo.-Taylor (Mich.) Truman) are all making major moves up the EMU career rankings in scoring, rebounding, three-point shooting, assists and free-throw shooting. Medlock is now 14th in career scoring with 1,303, just the 15th player in school history to reach 1,300 points. Bowdry is 23rd at 1,049 and Dobbins is 35th with 903. Bowdry has 588 career rebounds for 13th while Dobbins is 32nd in rebounding with 445 and Medlock is 67th at 269. Medlock is fifth in three-point shooting with 174 career triples and is ninth in career assists at 342.
Medlock is the 12th EMU player to reach 300 career assists while Bowdry is the 22nd player to grab 500+ career rebounds.
A GRAND PLAYER: EMU redshirt junior Brandon Bowdry (St. Louis, Mo.-Taylor (Mich.) Truman) scored 18 points in a Jan. 13, 74-59 win over Toledo to boost him past the 1,000-point career mark at 1,016 for his career. He has now reached 1,049 career points after a nine-point outing at home, Jan. 23, against Ball State which moves him to 23rd on the EMU career scoring list. He is the 27th player in school history to reach the 1,000-point plateau.
MEDLOCK PERFECT AT THE STRIPE: EMU senior point guard Carlos Medlock (Detroit, Mich.-Murray Wright) connected on 14-of-14 free throws in a 77-69 loss at Northern Illinois, Jan. 16. Through 18 games this season Medlock has made 373 career charity tosses to rank eighth in the EMU record book.
FIVE IN DOUBLES: For the first time all season the Eagles placed five players in double-figure scoring in a 71-63 loss at Central Michigan, Jan. 20. Senior point guard Carlos Medlock (Detroit, Mich.-Murray Wright) led the way with 16 followed by senior center Justin Dobbins (Cleveland, Ohio-Glenville) with 15, redshirt junior forward Brandon Bowdry (St. Louis, Mo.-Taylor (Mich.)-Truman) and junior-college transfer Jay Higgins (Fayetteville, N.C.-IMG-Hillsborough J.C.) added 11 each and sophomore guard Antonio Green (Inkster, Mich.-Dearborn Heights Robichaud) chipped in with 10 for the Eagles.
