Men's Golf Takes Sixth at the Wolverine at Radrick Farms

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Senior Brandon Lemons (Portage, Mich.-Portage Central) enjoyed his best performance this season, finishing at even-par 216 (72-74-70) to guide the Eastern Michigan University men's golf team to a sixth place finish at the 2009 Wolverine at Radrick Farms Sunday, Sept. 27.
Eastern Michigan shot a final-round 288 to finish at five-over 869 (291-290-288). Host Michigan won the event with a final score of 24-under (277-278-285=840); 14th-ranked Arkansas finished second at 17-under (278-288-281=847), while Louisville finished third at eight-under (293-285-278=856).
The Razorbacks' Jamie Marshall earned individual medalist honors after shooting a 10-under 206. Wolverine teammates Matt Thompson and Lion Kim tied for second at nine-under 207.
Lemon's finished the weekend with a two-under 70 during Sunday's final round to finish 16. The Portage, Mich., native, equaled his career-low for a 54-hole tournament when he cared a 216 at last year's Wolverine Invitational, Sept. 20-21, 2008.
Senior Marty Jeppesen (Saline, Mich.-Saline) and junior Brad Larente (Cambridge, Ontario-Hespeler Secondary) tied for 17th place with a two-day total of 217. Junior Nick Carbary (Kalamazoo, Mich.-Mattawan) finished with a 223 in a tie for 39th place followed by senior Cam Burke (Baden, Ontario-Waterloo Secondary) with a 225 in a 52nd. Competing as an individual junior Nicholas Banfield (Halifax, Nova Scotia-St. Mary's University-South Mountain C.C.) notched a 222 for 32nd place.
Head Coach Bruce Cunningham and crew return to action Sunday and Monday, Oct. 3-4, at the Windon Memorial Invitational hosted by Northwestern University in Glencoe, Ill.
