Men's Golf Tied for Sixth at Wolverine Tournament

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team had a strong second round Saturday, Sept. 26, at The Wolverine at Radrick Farms to remain in a tie for sixth place with a five-over 581. As a team, the Eagles shot a 290 in the afternoon round after shooting a 291 in the morning.
Seniors Cam Burke (Baden, Ontario-Waterloo Secondary) and Marty Jeppesen (Saline, Mich.-Saline) are tied for 20th place with a 36-hole mark of 145. Senior Brandon Lemons (Portage, Mich.-Portage Central) and junior Brad Larente (Cambridge, Ontario-Hespeler Secondary) are just one stroke behind them in a tie for 26th with a first-day mark of 156. Junior Nick Carbary (Kalamazoo, Mich.-Mattawan) sits in a tie for 39th with a 148 and competing as an indivual junior Nicholas Banfield (Halifax, Nova Scotia-St. Mary's University-South Mountain C.C.) is in a tie for 53rd with a 150.
With the University of Michigan football team hosting Indiana University in the homecoming game, the Wolverines normal home course was unavailable. Therefore, the Maize and Blue shifted the 14-team event to its alternate Ann Arbor Course -- Radrick Farms Golf Club. Despite practicing on Radrick about a dozen times a year, the Wolverines showed their course knowledge, tallying an 11-under 277 team total in the first round and following with a 10-under 278 in the second round to post a 555 team score to sit atop the field, 11 shots better that Arkansas (278-288), which closed the first day at 566. U-M was one stroke ahead of Arkansas after round one before posting its 278 -- 10 strokes better than the Razorbacks' 288.
The Wolverine at Radrick Farms will conclude with a final 18 holes Sunday, Sept. 27, with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start at the Radrick Farms Golf Club.
