ZIONSVILLE, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team finished 11th out of 17 teams at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate hosted by Indiana University in Zionsville, Ind., Sept. 12-13. The Eagles managed a final day 299 to finish with a three round total of 892.
The University of Illinois won the event with an 847 on the par 71, 7,195 yard Wolf Run Golf Course, while fellow Mid-American Conference schools Ball State had an 899 for 13th place and Toledo placed 16th with a 919.
Senior Cam Burke (Baden, Ontario-Waterloo Secondary) picked up his third career top 10 finish after carding a 217 (73-70-74) to tie for 10th place. He was the highest finishing student-athlete from a MAC institution, as BSU's Eric Steger followed with 222 in a tie for 27th place.
Senior Brandon Lemons (Portage, Mich.-Portage Central) notched a 225 (71-80-74) for a tie for 38th. A trio of Eagles finished tied for 59th, as senior Marty Jeppesen (Saline, Mich.-Saline), junior Nick Carbary (Kalamazoo, Mich.-Mattawa) and freshman Brad Altenhoff (Oakville, Ontario-White Oaks Secondary) all tallied a two-day mark of 230.
The Eagle will return to action Sunday and Monday, Sept. 26-27, in their only local event of the season, the Wolverine Invitational hosted by the University of Michigan. The event will feature 36 holes Sunday and 18 holes Monday.
