Women's Golf Tied For Sixth After the First Day of Fossum Invitational

EAST LANSING, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team stands tied for sixth place with the University of Kentucky after carding a two round total of 613 Saturday afternoon, Sept. 12, at the Mary Fossum Invitational held at the par 72, 6,348-yard Forest Akers West Golf Course.

The Eagles finished the first round in seventh after posting a 306. Junior Darby Peters (Lake Orion, Mich.-Lake Orion) led the Green and White on the day with a 147 (75-72) in a tie for12th place. Junior Stephanie Bevington (Ossosso, Mich.-Owosso) is tied for 34th with a 36-hole mark of 154 (76-78) while senior Marjorie Thuot (Joliette, Ouebec-Therese-Martin) fired rounds of 80 and 77 for a 157 in a tie for 42nd place.

Making her EMU debut, Robyn Scott (Auckland, New Zealand -Westlake Girls-Texas Tech Univ.) is also tied for 42nd with a 157 (75-82) while freshman Emily Podzielinski (Noblesville, Ind.-Noblesville) recoreded a 164 (84-80) in 78th place.

No. 7 Purdue leads the 17-team field with a 579 (291, 288) followed by host No. 20 Michigan St. at 582 (289, 293).
