Record Setting Day Leads EMU to 27-7 Win Over BGSU

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Behind a school record nine home runs from its offense, including four by redshirt freshman Wally Gerbus (Fairfield, Ohio-Stephen T. Baden), the Eastern Michigan University baseball team registered a 27-7 victory over Bowling Green State University at Steller Field Wednesday afternoon, April 8.
EMU's 27 runs and 28 hits this afternoon marks the most in a single game against a Division I opponent in school history.
Gerbus' four home runs tied a Mid-American Conference single game record and are the most hit by an EMU player in the school's history. Gerbus finished the day 4-for-5 at the plate with eight RBI and five runs scored to lead the Eagles.

Marshall started the EMU offensive onslaught in the top of the first, as his three-run homer over the right field wall scored Rhoad and Skirving to put give EMU a 3-0 lead. Home runs by Gerbus and Powell later in the inning paved the way for a 10-0 EMU advantage.
After the Falcons put up one run in the bottom of the second to make it a 10-1 game, Gerbus belted another solo homer in the top of the third to put the Eagles back up 10, 11-1.
The Eagles move to 7-23 with the win, while BGSU drops to 13-14 with the loss. Freshman pitcher Jordan Glover (Toronto, Ontario-Ontario Schools) picked up the win for the Eagles, putting him at 2-3 this season.
The Eagles are back in action this weekend, April 10-12, when they host the Ohio University Bobcats at Oestrike Stadium. Game one is scheduled for 6:05 p.m., while games two and three are slated for 3:05 p.m. and 1:05 p.m., respectively.
