BOWLING GREEN, Ohio –
Behind a school record nine home runs from its offense, including four by redshirt freshman Wally Gerbus (Fairfield, Ohio-Stephen T. Baden), the Eastern Michigan University baseball team registered a 27-7 victory over Bowling Green State University at Steller Field Wednesday afternoon, April 8.

EMU's 27 runs and 28 hits this afternoon marks the most in a single game against a Division I opponent in school history.

Gerbus' four home runs tied a Mid-American Conference single game record and are the most hit by an EMU player in the school's history. Gerbus finished the day 4-for-5 at the plate with eight RBI and five runs scored to lead the Eagles.

Senior Aaron Powell (Clarkston, Mich.-Clarkston) and junior Andrew Marshall (Mason, Mich.-Mason) each hit a pair of homers, as Powell finished 4-for-7 with four RBI and three runs scored, while Marshall went 4-for-4 with six RBI and five runs scored in the win.

Senior Kyle Rhoad (Fostoria, Ohio-Elmwood) belted his fourth long-ball of the season, finishing the day 5-for-6 with three RBI, three runs scored, and one stolen base. Rhoad has tallied 17 stolen bases in 17 attempts this season.

Junior Aaron Crooks (Toledo, Ohio-Ottawa Hills) went 3-for-4 in the victory with four runs scored and four RBI for the Eagles.

Marshall started the EMU offensive onslaught in the top of the first, as his three-run homer over the right field wall scored Rhoad and Skirving to put give EMU a 3-0 lead. Home runs by Gerbus and Powell later in the inning paved the way for a 10-0 EMU advantage.

After the Falcons put up one run in the bottom of the second to make it a 10-1 game, Gerbus belted another solo homer in the top of the third to put the Eagles back up 10, 11-1.

The Eagles move to 7-23 with the win, while BGSU drops to 13-14 with the loss. Freshman pitcher Jordan Glover (Toronto, Ontario-Ontario Schools) picked up the win for the Eagles, putting him at 2-3 this season.

The Eagles are back in action this weekend, April 10-12, when they host the Ohio University Bobcats at Oestrike Stadium. Game one is scheduled for 6:05 p.m., while games two and three are slated for 3:05 p.m. and 1:05 p.m., respectively.
