YPSILANTI, Mich. --
The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team will compete at the 2009 Mid-American Conference Championship Friday through Sunday, April 24-26, at Longaberger Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio. The three-day, 72-hole event, will be played at 6,149 yards and to a par-72 for the nine MAC schools which sponsor women's golf – Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Toledo and Western Michigan.

The tournament, which is hosted by Kent State University, will feature 36 holes Friday, 18 holes Saturday and the final 18 holes Sunday. The event is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. each day. The tournament is open to the public and admission is free.

The Eagles finished as the runner-up to the Golden Flashes at last year's MAC Championship at The Brickyard Crossing Golf Course in Indianapolis, Ind., April 25-27, 2008. EMU carded a three-day total of 1,228 (310-317-305-2964) as KSU rolled to its 10th consecutive championship with a 72-hole total of 1,177 (297-297-303-2805).

EMU's second-place finish in 2008 equaled the mark set by the 2003 and 2007 squads. The 2003 team recorded a 925 at Walden Ponds Golf Course in Hamilton, Ohio, while the 2007 team carded a 1,252 (317-310-311-314) the last time the event was at Longaberger Golf Club.
