COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team finished tied for seventh out of 13 teams Sunday, April 12, at the 40th Annual Robert Kepler Invitational hosted by The Ohio State University. The Eagles carded a three-round team score of 918 (308-299-311). Tournament Champion Northwestern shot a score of 892 (301-296-295). OSU's Brad Wright captured medalist honors, as he fired a final score of 218 (71-71-76).
The Eagles were led by junior Marty Jeppesen (Saline, Mich.-Saline), who carded a final score of 223 (74-73-76), good for a share of sixth place overall. The top 10 showing was Jeppesen's first of the season and the second of his career. His previous best finish was a tie for seventh place with a 72 hole total of 294 at the 2008 Mid-American Conference Championships, May 2-4, 2008, at Longaberger Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio.
Senior Christopher Ross (Dundas, Ontario-Parkside) shot a tournament score of 224 (74-73-77) and tied for 11th place. Junior Brandon Lemons (Portage, Mich.-Portage Central) recorded a 236 (75-80-76) for a tie for 48th place.
Junior Cam Burke (Baden, Ontario-Waterloo Secondary) and sophomore Nic Carbary (Kalamazoo, Mich.-Mattawan) rounded out the lineup with a 237 (78-80-79) and a 241 (82-79-80), respectively.
The Eagles will practice for a few days and will head back out into competition play Saturday, April 18, for the Boilermaker Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind. The Boilermaker Invitational is the last tournament for the Green and White before the Mid-American Championships, April 30-May 2.
