Stephany Fleet Leads the Way at the EKU Spring Invitational

RICHMOND, Ky. – Senior Stephany Fleet (Dewitt, Mich.-Dewitt) holds a one-stroke lead atop the leader board at the Eastern Kentucky University Spring Invitational Saturday, April 11, following an opening day 148 (75-73). Fleet is looking for her seventh consecutive top five finish and her fourth career tournament title on the par-72, 5,817-yard course Arlington Golf Club.
As a team, the Eagles reside in second place with a 613 (314-299) while Central Arkansas is setting the pace with a score of 609 (302-307). Toledo sits in third with a 617 (306-311), followed by Richmond 622 (310-312) and Murray State 624 (315-309) to round out the top five.
Individually for the Green and White, junior Courtney Aili (Chelsea, Mich.-Chelsea) is in fifth with a 152 (80-72) and sophomore Darby Peters (Lake Orion, Mich.-Lake Orion) is tied for sixth with a 153 (78-75). Junior Marjorie Thuot (Joliette, Ouebec-Therese-Martin) carded a 160 (81-79) for 37th place and sophomore Lina Pasquali (Kendallville, Ind. -East Noble) round out the lineup with a 164 (81-83) for a 61st place tie.
Competing as individual, sophomore Stephanie Bevington (Ossosso, Mich.-Owosso) is tied for sixth place with a 36 hole mark of 153 (78-75). Bevington shattered her career record for lowest 18 hole round, besting her previous mark of 79 she set on two separate occasions.
The Green and White return to the course Sunday, April 11, for the final round. The shotgun start is schedule for 9 a.m. The Eagles have claimed the last two EKU Spring Tournament titles, including dominating the 2008 field with a 20-shot victory.
