COLUMBUS, Ohio – Led by Christopher Ross (Dundas, Ontario-Parkside) and Marty Jeppesen (Saline, Mich.-Saline) with an opening day total of 147 (74-73), the Eastern Michigan University men's golf team sits in sixth place after the first round of the 40th Annual Robert Kepler Intercollegiate Saturday, April 11, in Columbus, Ohio.

The Eagles began the tournament with a team score 308 before shaving nine strokes off that total for a 299 in the second round for a 36 hole cumulative mark of 607 on the par 71, 7,455-yard Scarlet Course at the OSU Golf Club. They are just 10 strokes back from Big Ten Conference foe Northwestern, who leads the 13-team field at 597 (303-296).

The Buckeyes' Brad Wright holds down the individual lead with a 142 (71-71), while East Tennessee State's Seamus Power is in second place with an opening day 142 (72-73).

Behind Ross and Jeppesen, junior Brandon Lemons (Portage, Mich.-Portage Central) is tied for 39th place at 157 (83-74) Junior Cam Burke (Baden, Ontario-Waterloo Secondary) and sophomore Nic Carbary (Kalamazoo, Mich.-Mattawan) rounded out the lineup with a 158 (78-80) and a 161 (82-79), respectively.
