, Ohio The Eastern Michigan University baseball couldn't find an answer for the Miami University offense Friday, March 27, at McKie Field, as the Eagles dropped a pair of Mid-American Conference match-ups against the RedHawks. EMU fell, 15-1, in game one and 12-2 in game two.

 

The losses drop EMU to 4-20 (0-5 MAC) this season, while the RedHawks improve to 11-10 (2-3 MAC) with the wins.

 

The Eagles got down early in game one, as the RedHawks tallied eight runs on six hits in the first inning, including a three-run homer by Zak Hatfield, to take a 8-0 advantage. Miami scored six more in the bottom of the fourth to take a commanding lead.

 

Junior Jim Gulliver (Allen Park, Mich.-Allen Park) went 2-for-3 in game one with an RBI, while senior Kyle Rhoad (Fostoria, Ohio-Elmwood) went 2-for-3 with a stolen base for EMU.

 

It was more of the same in game two, as the RedHawk offense tallied seven runs in the first four innings, including a five-run third inning, to take a 7-0 lead.

 

Junior Andrew Marshall (Mason, Mich.-Mason) got the Eagles on the board in the top of the fifth, as his solo homer over the left field wall made it a 7-1 game. Marshall went 1-for-4 with an RBI in the loss.

 

Sophomore Jordan Goldschmidt (Ft. Loramie, Ohio-Ft. Loramie) took the loss in game one, while sophomore Corey Chaffins (New London, Ohio-New London) took the loss for EMU in the night cap.

 

The Eagles and RedHawks wrap up their weekend series tomorrow with a 6 p.m. game at McKie Field at Hayden Park.
