EAGLES HEAD TO DAYTON FOR A DOUBLE-DIP: With its non-conference tournament schedule complete, the Eastern Michigan University softball team heads to Dayton, Ohio to take on the Wright State University Raiders in doubleheader action. The teams are set to meet Tuesday, March 24 at 2 p.m. It is only the second official doubleheader for the Eagles this season, as they fell to Florida Gulf Coast (Feb. 24), 6-9 and 2-3. This doubleheader marks only the second time the two schools have faced off, with EMU sweeping a two-game series from the Raiders (April 25, 1981), 2-1 and 15-1. The 1981 season marked the first year for softball at Eastern Michigan University.

SCOUTING THE RAIDERS: Wright State enters Tuesday's contest with a 10-12 record, having gone 1-2 against Cleveland State this past weekend (March 21 and 22). Leading the Raiders offensively are Briauna Birl, who is batting .403, and Jamie Perkins, who is hitting .283 with 12 RBI. Ashleigh Jackson is 5-4 on the year with a 3.07 ERA in the circle with Sharon Palma owning a 4-4 record and 4.23 ERA.
HOME SWEET HOME…SOON: The Eagles will open up the Mid-American Conference portion of their schedule at home this weekend, hosting Miami in a doubleheader Friday, March 27 and single games against Ball State, Saturday, March 28 and Sunday, March 29. The doubleheader against Miami is set for 1 p.m. at Varsity Field. Saturday's game is at 2 p.m., with Sunday's finale at 1 p.m. Admission is free.
FRESHMEN STEP UP AT HIGHLANDER CLASSIC: Freshmen Sarah Gerber and Kelsey Greene delivered like veterans for EMU at the Highlander Classic, March 20-22. Gerber was named to the All-Tournament team after hitting .625 (10-for-16) at the plate. After going hitless in the Eagles' first game against Harvard, the freshman responded with 10 hits in four games en route to the honors. Greene hit the first home run of her career in style, knocking one out of the park for a grand slam against Toledo (March 22), helping EMU to a 5-1 win.
WEEKEND REWIND: The Eagles went 3-2 at the Highlander Classic at Radford University, defeating Harvard and Toledo two times to earn a third place finish. Freshman Sarah Gerber and sophomore Jaclyn Caro were named to the All-Tournament team, as Gerber hit .625 for the weekend while Caro was 3-0 with a 0.33 ERA.
