YPSILANTI, Mich. - Despite a strong second-half rally the Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team fell to a visiting Georgia State University team, 63-58, here Saturday afternoon, Feb. 21, in a non-conference BracketBuster Game.

The game was also played on EMU's Hall of Fame Day, in which the E-Letterwinners Club inducted five former Eastern athletic standouts.

With the loss, the Eagles fall to 4-23 overall on the season, while Georgia State improves to 10-18. The Eagles shot 41.2 percent from the field (21-of-51) compared to 44.7 percent (21-of-47) for the Panthers. The visitors also held a 37-32 advantage on the boards.

Leading the way for the Eagles was freshman Antonio Green (Inkster, Mich.-Dearborn Heights Robichaud) with 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds. L.J. Frazier (Ypsilanti, Mich.-Ypsilanti) and Zane Gay (Olivet, Mich.-Olivet) chipped in 12 and 11, respectively. For Georgia State, Dante Curry recorded a game-high 14 points, while Rashade Chase and Ousman Krubally added 11 each.

After trailing by 29-18 at the half, the Eagles came out and chipped away at Georgia States lead, gradually cutting it to two, 47-45, at the 5:26 mark on jumper by Green.

The Eagles managed to knot the score at 50-all at the 4:22 mark on a three-point field goal by Brandon Bowdry (St. Louis, Mo.-Taylor (Mich.) Truman) but the Panthers bounced right back on a three by Dante Curry, followed by three free throws by Trae Goldston to go up 56-50 with 2:52 remaining in the game. Eastern would get no closer than four the rest of the way as GSU held on for the 63-58 win.

It was a low scoring affair during the first half of the game with the two teams trading scores for much of the half. The Panthers began to pull away late in the half, taking an 11-point lead, 29-18, heading into the break. Leading the way for the Eagles at the half was Frazier with seven points. For the visitors, Curry chipped in nine in the first frame.

The Eagles will return to the friendly confines of the EMU Convocation Center Wednesday, Feb. 25 against the University of Toledo. Tip-off is schedule for 7 p.m.
