YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University put two players on the Mid-American Conference All-Tournament team announced by the conference office Monday, Nov. 9. Seniors Ashley Rodrigues and Katie Lozar were the two Eagles selected.
Despite a disappointing end to the 2009 season, the Green and White received two deserving nominations for MAC All-Tournament team honors. Rodrigues scored a goal in each of the Eagles' two tournament matches, including the lone score in their 2-1 defeat to Miami in the semifinals.
It was her 10th goal and 21st point of the season, both league-leading numbers for the Pickering, Ontario native. She finishes her career third in goals scored (21), points (53), game-winning goals (9), and shots on goal (71). She is also fourth in shots attempted (122) and games played (79), as well as fifth in games started (72).
Lozar earned All-Tournament honors for the second straight year after helping Eastern Michigan to a 3-0 shutout of Kent State in the quarterfinals. The native of Broadview Heights, Ohio finishes her career ranking in the top-10 in goals (11), shots (100), shots on goal (48), game-winning goals (4), and games started (70). She is atop the list of all-time Eagles in games played with 82.
Rodrigues and Lozar were also named All-MAC first team selections in 2009 as well.
