Eastern Michigan pushes its dual meet winning streak to 54 with a win over the Bulls

BUFFALO, N.Y. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's swimming and diving team won its second meet of the season and pushed its dual meet winning streak to 54 after a 180-120 victory over Buffalo Friday, Nov. 6.

 

Several Eagles had stellar days including Troy Esentan who won races in two freestyle events. He touched the wall with a time of 9:36.16 to take home a win in the 1,000 freestyle and followed that up with a win in the 500 freestyle.

 

The winning 400 medley relay team consisting of Jacob Hanson, Scott Murphy, Owen Grey and Matt Zavislak swam to a time of 3:25.02. Hanson chipped in a win in the 200 backstroke while Grey placed first in the 200 butterfly and Zavislak took home wins in the both the 50 and 100 freestyle as well.

 

Andrew Saunders and Jeffrey Craig each placed well in the one and three-meter dives. Saunders took second in the one meter with a score of 278.02, followed closely behind by Craig who placed third less than six points back. Craig took the win in the three-meter with a score of 308.63 while Saunders was right behind with a score of 307.20.

 

Murphy took first in the 200 breaststroke while freshman Kevin Kubik nearly missed getting a win in the 200 freestyle, settling for second with a time of 1:43.90.

 

The Eagles will return home Nov. 13-14 in a two-day dual meet with Purdue at Jones Natatorium.
