YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's swimming and diving team dropped its first dual meet of the season, 190-124, to Purdue University in non-conference action at Jones Natatorium Saturday, Nov. 14.

After totaling just 40 points after day one, the Eagles tripled that number by Saturday's end. The Green and White were led by Jacob Hanson who added a win in the 400-yard IM to go with his 100-yard backstroke victory and two second place finishes in the 200-yard medley relay and 800-yard free relay from Friday night.

The 200-yard free relay of Matt Zavislak, Kevin Kubik, Jake Heyblom and Owen Grey turned in a first place finishing time of 1:25.38, nipping Purdue by six-tenths of a second. Zavislak added a third place tally in the 100-yard free and helped the 400-yard free relay team to a second place finish.

Tyler Capen touched the wall in 1:51.99 to win the 200-yard backstroke while Scott Murphy nearly swept the breaststroke sprints with a win in the 200 and a second place finishing in the 100.

The Eagles (2-1 overall, 1-0 Mid-American Conference) will be back in action in two weeks when they host the annual EMU Invitational at Jones Natatorium on Dec. 4-5.
