Women's Golf Third After First Day of Ross Resorts Invite

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University junior Darby Peters (Lake Orion, Mich.-Lake Orion) fired rounds of 74 and 73 at the Ross Resorts Invitational on the par-72, 6,114-yard Mid Pines Golf Course Monday afternoon, Oct. 26. The Lake Orion, Mich. native sits in third place, eight strokes back of Nova Southeastern's Sandra Changkija at 139 (70-69).
Rollins College, the third ranked team in Division II, shot scores of 300 and 301 in overcast, blustery conditions Monday for a 36-hole score of 601 strokes. Sunshine State Conference rival, top ranked Nova Southeastern is one shot back with a score of 602 (304-298) while round one co-leader Eastern Michigan is third with 608 strokes (300-308). Georgetown (314-308=622) is fourth while Methodist, the top team in Division III, is fifth (318-306=624).
Freshman Sarah Johnson (Wixom, Mich.-Walled Lake Central) is tied for ninth place with a 152 (75-77). Junior Robyn Scott (Auckland, New Zealand-Westlake Girls Texas-Tech Univ.) recorded a 75 and a 77 for 12th place and freshman Emily Podzielinski (Noblesville, Ind.-Noblesville) managed a 158 (76-82) for a tie for 21st. Senior Marjorie Thuot (Joliette, Ouebec-Therese-Martin) is tied for 26th with a 159 (80-79). Playing as an individual, junior Lina Pasquali (Kendallville, Ind.-East Noble) fired a 157 (79-78) and is in 20th.
The 2009 Ross Resorts Invitational at Mid Pines will conclude Tuesday with a final 18 holes.
