Eagle Harriers Compete Against Michigan in Season Opener

DEXTER, Mich.-The Eastern Michigan University men’s cross country team opened up the 2008 season today (Aug. 29) in a non-scoring meet at the Michigan Open at Hudson Mills Park in Dexter, Mich.

The Eagles were led by junior Curtis Vollmar (Grand Blanc, Mich.-Grand Blanc), who ran the 10,000-meter course with a time of 33:18 to finish eighth. Luke Chruscial (Grandville, Mich.-Grandville) was the next to cross the tape, finishing 10^th in a time of 33:43. Redshirt-freshman Cole Sanseverino (Monroe, Mich.-Monroe) made his collegiate debut for the Eagle harriers, finishing 11^th (34:16). Redshirt junior Kenny Wassus (Monroe, Mich.-Oakland Univ.) also made his first appearance for EMU, crossing with a time of 34:27 to finish 13^th.

Eastern will return to action Sat., Sept. 13 at the Mel Brodt Invitational in Bowling Green, Ohio. Meet time is set for 2 p.m.
