Juniors Melissa Green and Janice Keppler, as well as senior Andrea Wheeler have all reached the qualifying standard in their individual events throughout the outdoor season. Keppler, competing in the pole vault, will attempt to return to the NCAA Championships in June, after finishing fourth one year ago at the Mideast Championship. New to the regional meet will be Green and Wheeler. Green will be competing in the steeplechase, while Wheeler will run the 100-meter hurdles.
On the men's side, Eric Alejandro, Clint Allen, Nate Blackwell, David Brent, Xavier Clais, Ackeem Forde, Gerald Gersham, Josh Karanja, Darrin Trammell and Oliver Walther will be competing in several events. Alejandro will be running the 110 and 400-meter hurdles and as the leadoff leg of the 400 and 1,600-meter relay teams. Joining Alejandro in the 400-meter relay will be Forde, Walther and Allen, while the 4X400-meter relay team will consist of Alejandro, Forde, Trammell and Blackwell.
Allen will be running the 100-meter dash, an event in which he ranks 12th in the country with a time of 10.21 seconds. Brent will participate in both the 1,500 meters and the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Joining Brent in the steeplechase will be Karanja.
Clais and Gersham will represent the Eagle sin the field events. Clais will compete in the high jump, while Gersham will throw the shot put.
The top five individuals of each event automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships, while another four will be chosen by the longest marks throughout the four regions.
