Improves from her 69th place finish last year at the Regional meet

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Eastern Michigan University women’s cross country team had four athletes competing at the 2007 Great Lakes Regional in Bloomington, Ind.. Michigan State University won the meet with 60 points while the University of Michigan finished second with 63 points. The Spartans and Wolverines received the two automatic bids to the NCAA National meet, Nov. 19, in Terre Haute, Ind.
 
With only four individuals competing, the Eagles were led by Melissa Green (Brecksville, Ohio-Broadview Heights) for the second time this season, with the first coming at the Mid-American Conference Championship, Oct. 27, where she finished 12th to earn All-MAC honors. Today, she finished the women’s 6-kilometer course with a time of 22:29.67, finishing 55th, improving upon her 69th place finish last year at the meet.
 
Freshmen Lauren Quaintance (White Lake, Mich.-Walled Lake Northern), Morgan Newman (Grand Blanc, Mich.-Grand Blanc) and Megan Flewelling (Grand Blanc, Mich.-Powers Catholic) all ran the race for the first time in their career. Quaintance finished 153rd with a time of 24:05.17 while Morgan finished 165th with a time of 24:19.66 and Flewelling was 178th with a time of 24:47.00.
