Adamek and Nowitzke Earn MAC Honors

Two Eagles named MAC Track and Field Athletes of the Week
CLEVELAND, Ohio--Two Eastern Michigan University junior track and field competitors have been singled out by the Mid-American Conference as men’s track and field Athletes of the Week for the week ending May 10.
Junior Dave Adamek (Ridgeway, Ontario, Canada-Crystal Beach) was named MAC Field Event Athlete of the Week and junior distance ace Corey Nowitzke (Monroe, Mich.-Monroe) was selected MAC Trackman of the Week by the league. The two Eagles earned the awards after turning in outstanding efforts at two separate locations last weekend.
Adamek led the Eagles at the Len Paddock Invitational in Ann Arbor, winning the hammer with an NCAA Regional-qualifying effort of 183-feet-1 inch and also capturing the shot put with a winning effort of 58-feet-5.25 inches. Adamek also won the MAC weekly award April 18.
Nowitzke was invited to run in the 3,000-meter steeplechase invitational race at the prestigious Jesse Owens Invitational Friday, May 5, in Columbus, Ohio. In that race, Nowitze ran the sixth fastest time in the NCAA this year to finish fifth in 8:41.57 against a star-studded field that included two Olympians as well as former EMU All-American and 2004 NCAA 3,000-meter steeplechase champion Jordan Desilets who finished fourth. The top two times in the race were the fastest in the United States this year.
Adamek and Nowitzke will lead the Eagles into the MAC Outdoor Championships this weekend (May 11-13) at the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio.
