Two EMU Women's Soccer Players Earn All-MAC Honors

Kinter and Christensen named to All-Freshman Team

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Eastern Michigan University soccer freshman forwards Deana Kinter (Grand Blanc, Mich.-Grand Blanc) and Maggie Christensen (Orland Park, Ill.-AA Stagg) were named to postseason All Mid-American Conference freshman squads, as voted by the league’s head coaches. The announcement was made by the conference office this evening.
Kinter started in 14 of 15 games played this season and led the team in scoring with 12 points tallying a team high five goals with two assists including two game winners. Her game winners came in a 1-0 victory against Detroit (Sept. 5) to give the Eagles their first victory of the season. The second came as Kinter tallied two goals for a 3-0 win against previously unbeaten Akron (Sept 22). Kinter notched 22 total shots with 14 on goal for a .636 shots-on-goals percentage.
Christensen started in 13 of 15 games played notching a team second best four goals and three assists for a total of 11 points with a team-high three game winners. Her game winners came at Eastern Illinois (Sept 8) in a 2-0 victory, at Ball State (Oct. 8) in a 2-1 win and against Northern Illinois (Oct. 15) helping EMU to a 2-0 victory. Christensen tallied 38 total shots with 19 on goal for a .500 shots-on-goal percentage.
Miami’s senior forward Kathleen Vistica was named MAC player of the year. Central Michigan freshman forward Stephanie Martin was named Freshman of the Year with Ball State coach Michelle Salmon receiving Coach of the Year honors.
