Will Delgado is in his second season as the graduate assistant and video coordinator for the Eastern Michigan University women’s basketball program.
Delgado’s duties include game day and practice preparation, video editing and film exchange. Additionally, he is involved with many aspects of everyday operations and assists the coaching staff with community service and many day-to-day office duties.
Prior to coming to EMU, Delgado worked for two years at Nebraska Wesleyan University as an assistant men’s basketball coach. During his brief stint the squad had its first winning season in eight years and upset six nationally ranked teams. Additionally, NWU had a pair of CoSIDA Academic All-Americans and six NCAA Division III Independent All-Conference selections.
Delgado also served as a as video coordinator for the men’s basketball team at Indiana State University for three seasons (2008-11). During his tenure, the Sycamores won the 2011 Missouri Valley Conference Tournament championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament as the 13th seed.
Before joining the collegiate ranks, Delgado served as an assistant coach in Chicago, Ill. at Lincoln Park High School where they won four IHSA State Regional championships in five seasons. There he assisted with scouting, on-court coaching and player development, which included nine Division I college basketball players during his eight season in Chicago Public Schools.
Delgado is also heavily connected on the camp circuit, serving as a coach and clinician at the famed Five Star Basketball Camps, Pete Newell Tall Women’s Camps and Snow Valley Basketball Schools, as well as many other college camps.
Delgado hails from Santa Cruz, Calif. where he played at Santa Cruz High School for Pete Newell, Jr. (son of the late Basketball Hall of Fame coach, Pete Newell).
He is also a founding member of Latino Association of Basketball Coaches, an organization dedicated to the development and growth of Latino basketball coaches both nationally and internationally.
He lives in Ypsilanti, Mich. with his wife, Holly, and son Santiago (3) and Max (newborn).
