CARLSBAD, Calif. (EMUEagles.com) – Heading into the season, the Eastern Michigan University women's golf program had never played in the postseason as a team. Following another solid effort, the Eagles are one round away from earning spot in match play as Eastern sits 10th overall following the third round of action at the 2026 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championships at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif., May 24. By holding a place in the top 15 following the third round, the Eagles made the cut and will look to do so one more time as the top eight in the standings following the fourth round will battle for the national crown.

"Today was special," Head Coach Josh Brewer said. "I believe four or five of the players recorded a birdie in the first three holes. At this stage, you worry about nerves, but they came out excited, like they have all year, and then, we had a little adversity in the middle. It is five hours (on the course) and it happens. We had a strong finish, and now, it's kind of that old magical thing when I said to you before: why not Eastern? We have a chance to be the seventh seed. We can be a seventh seed or even the sixth seed and go really upset some people. We need to work on a few things and to truly make it to match play, so we will enjoy this for a moment, have a nice dinner, and come back tomorrow with the same excitement and enthusiasm for the final round."

The Eagles, who are 10th overall at 6-over 870, shot 1-over 289 in the third round to keep themselves among the top 10 to make the cut to the fourth round, leaving them one round away from match play. No. 1 Stanford University continues to lead at 21-under 843 while No. 2 University of Southern California is second at 16-under 848 and No. 21 Oklahoma State University is third at 10-under 854. No. 5 University of Texas (6-under 858) is fourth while both No. 17 Iowa State University and No. 7 Arkansas are tied for fifth at 3-under 861. The final three teams in the standings ahead of the Eagles, which included No. 3 University of Florida, No. 10 Duke University, and No. 23 Arizona State University, are all tied for seventh at 2-over 866.

Individually, Baiyok Sukterm (Bang Yi, Thailand/Panitchayakan Rajdamnern Tech/Lindsey Wilson) continued her strong play as the junior shot 1-under 71 to move into a tie for 25th overall at 1-under 215 and record her third consecutive round at or under par. Sukterm is no stranger to low rounds in a national tournament as she recorded her eight round at or under par (in 11 rounds played) after recording three for Barton Community College at the 2025 NJCAA DI Championships before adding two more for Lindsey Wilson College at the 2025 NAIA Championships.

Savannah de Bock (Ecaussinnes-d'enghien, Belgium/Institut de l'Enfant-Jésus-Lycée/Georgia) is right behind her teammate in a tie for 28th at even-par 216 after she shot even-par 72. Janae Leovao (Oceanside, Calif./El Camino/Long Beach State) and Jasmine Leovao (Oceanside, Calif./El Camino/Long Beach State) both shot 1-over 73 in round three to rank tied for 51st and tied for 60th, respectively, while Erina Tan (Belmont, Western Australia/Mount Lawley Senior) posted a score of 3-over 75 to sit in a tie for 110th.

Team Notes
» Eastern shot 1-over 289 to tie for the 24th-lowest single round in program history. The 289 strokes also marked the 36th time the Eagles have shot 290 or lower in program history with 31 coming under Josh Brewer in the past two seasons.
» The Eagles' 289 strokes is the lowest posted in the third of the NCAA Championships in MAC history and ranks second among all rounds played in the national event in MAC history, surpassed only by the 286 strokes recorded in the first round. Additionally, the score ranks first among round scores recorded by all Michigan NCAA Division I schools in the national event while tying for the fifth-lowest among teams from the Mitten in any round.
» By making the cut, Eastern will compete in the fourth round of a tournament for just the fifth time in program history and the first time outside of the MAC Championships. The last time the Eagles competed in a four-round event was the 2009 conference tournament.
» Prior to the 2018 NCAA Championships, all teams in the field played four rounds with no match play. Under the current format, Eastern is only the second team from the MAC to make the cut and advance to the fourth round after Kent State accomplished the feat in 2018 after placing eighth through three rounds. Eastern also is the only NCAA Division I team from the state of Michigan to make the three-round cut.
» With half of the field cut following the third round, the list of top 10 and top 25 teams the Eagles defeated this year grew to five and 15, respectively. Having already previously defeated No. 5 Oregon (Chevron Silverado Showdown) and No. 10 Vanderbilt (Alice & John Wallace Invitational), the Eagles added No. 4 Texas A&M, No. 6 Auburn, and No. 8 Wake Forest to the top 10 ledger while newcomers to the top 25 list included No. 18 Tennessee, No. 20 Ole Miss, No. 22 Florida State, and No. 25 Ohio State.

Individual Notes
» Baiyok Sukterm posted her third consecutive round at or under par in the national tournament after shooting 1-under 71. Sukterm, who fired back-to-back rounds of even-par 72 in the opening two rounds, has now played 11 rounds at various collegiate national championships and shot at or below par in eight. She accomplished the feat in three of the four rounds played at the 2024 NJCAA DI Championships for Barton College before adding two at the 2025 NAIA Championships with Lindsey Wilson.
» Savannah de Bock recorded her second round at or below par in the national tournament as she shot even-par 72. Her score tied for the sixth-lowest in MAC history while in the third round while tying for 14th in all rounds.
» Janae Leovao and Jasmine Leovao both shot 1-over 73 to tie for the 12th-lowest third-round score in among MAC players all time. The twins matched each others scores for the second consecutive round after both shot 75 in round two.
» Jasmine Leovao's 73 brought her three-round total to 4-over 220, which has her tied for 60th. Making her second appearance in the tournament after representing Long Beach State in 2024, Leovao has lowered her score by 11 stokes between the two event after shooting 15-over 231. She also has improved by 54 places as she tied for 114th two years ago on the same course.
