Eastern Remains Among Top Five at NCAA Regional

Eagles sit fourth as a team with two players in the top 10

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team battled weather delays and a strong field in the second round of the 2026 NCAA Tallahassee Regional, May 12, with the Eagles using a hot start and an improved finish to remain in fourth place heading into the final round of the three-day event being played at Seminole Legacy Golf Club in Tallahassee, Fla. The Eagles, who are looking to finish among the top five to advance to the NCAA Championships in their debut tournament, have two players in the top 10 as Janae Leovao is tied for fourth place while Baiyok Sukterm moved up into a tie for 10th.
The top half of the team standings went nearly unchanged as No. 3 University of Florida leads the way at 5-under 571 while host and No. 25 Florida State University is second at 4-under 572. No. 9 Wake Forest University, who was tied for second with FSU after the first round, is third at 2-over 578, while the No. 27 Eagles, who tied for fourth, hold the fourth position by themselves at 4-over 580 (287-293) while the University of Louisiana Monroe slipped to fifth at 5-over 581. No. 15 University of California Los Angeles remained sixth at 8-over 584.
Individually, Janae Leovao (Oceanside, Calif./El Camino/Long Beach State) shot 1-over 73 to slip into a tie for fourth at 3-under 141 while Sukterm (Bang Yi, Thailand/Panitchayakan Rajdamnern Tech/Lindsey Wilson) posted the only round under par for the Eagles as her 1-under 71 brought her total to even-par 144 as she sits tied for 10th with four other players. Jasmine Leovao (Oceanside, Calif./El Camino/Long Beach State) remained in the top 20 as she is tied for 19th at 3-over 147 after shooting 1-over 73 in the second round.
Savannah de Bock (Ecaussinnes-d'enghien, Belgium/Institut de l'Enfant-Jésus-Lycée/Georgia) is tied for 24th overall after her 4-over 76 took her total to 4-over 148 while Mariana Vega (Barranquilla, Columbia/Colegio Karl C. Parrish) is 50th at 10-over 154 after shooting 8-over 80 in the second round.
Team Notes
» Weather was a factor throughout the second round. Originally slated to start at 8 a.m., the second round didn't get underway until 10 a.m. because of lightning in the area. Then, at 12:34 p.m., lightning returned to the area and forced another delay, this time spanning 2:38.
» Eastern is playing its 12th tournament of the season and will need to place among the top five to punch its ticket to the NCAA Championships. In their first 11 events of 2025-26, the Eagle finished in the top five 10 times, including three wins, five runner-up finishes, and two fourth-place showings. The only time the Eagles fell outside of the top five came at the GolfWeek Red Sky Classic (Sept. 22-24) where they tied for seventh.
Individual Notes
» Baiyok Sukterm shot 1-under 71 in the second round to move into a tie for 10th in the standings while posting the best round of her regional career, surpassing the 73 she carded one day earlier. Her 71 marks only the second round under par recorded by an Eastern player behind Janae Leovao's opening-round 68.
» Janae Leovao slipped into a tie for fourth place individually as she shot 73 in the second round. The score was tied for the fourth-lowest recorded in EMU's NCAA history and also tied for the fourth-lowest score she has posted in her three NCAA regional appearances.
» Jasmine Leovao lowered her score by one stroke with a second-round 73 to tie for the third-lowest score she has posted in her four NCAA regional appearances. It also tied for the fourth-lowest round in EMU's NCAA history.
