Junior netminder stopped 11 shots in three quarters of action to lead EMU to its 10th win

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The final weekly lacrosse awards were announced by the Mid-American Conference, April 28, with Eastern Michigan University junior Maddy Porter being voted the MAC Goalkeeper of the Week for the fifth time in 2026 following another impressive showing for the Eagles.

Porter (Montrose, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) played the first three quarters of the game at Youngstown State University, April 25, and made 11 saves while allowing just three goals to help EMU to its 10th win of the year. Her 11 stops tied for the fifth-highest total against a MAC opponent in program history while marking the seventh time this year and the 19th time in her career she has recorded double-digit stops. She has made 153 saves this season to mark the second consecutive season she has reached 150+ after stopping a program-record 179 in 2025. She also scooped four ground balls in the game to bring her season total to 66 and her career total to 200. On a season level, her 66 ground balls are the second-highest total in program history and trail only the 71 she recorded last year while giving her 60+ in three consecutive seasons. For her career, she is the only player in program history to reach 75, 100, 125, 150, 175, and now 200 ground balls.

Porter's honor marked her fifth of the season and the eighth for the Eagles as Kelsea Dague (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) and Emerson Henry (Ashburn, Ontario/Donald A. Wilson) both were named the MAC Offensive Player of the Week on Feb. 17 and April 7, respectively, while Karly Low (Owen Sound, Ontario/Owen Sound District Secondary) earned MAC Defensive Player of the Week, Feb. 17. The honor for Porter is the eighth goalkeeping award from the MAC and her ninth weekly accolade after earning MAC Defensive Player of the Week once in 2023 before the goalkeeper award was begun in 2024.

Porter and the Eagles (10-6, 5-2 MAC) are set to compete in the 2026 MAC Tournament, hosted by Robert Morris University, when third-seeded Eastern faces second-seeded University of Akron in the semifinals, April 30, at 2 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ from Joe Walton Stadium in Moon Township, Pa.
