Freshman Kharadkar battled back for a three-set win to grab the lone point for the Eagles.
OXFORD, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 Mid-American Conference decision to host Miami University, April 12, in Oxford, Ohio, in the Eagles' final road contest of the 2025-26 season. The Eagles (10-11, 1-6 MAC) suffered their third consecutive 6-1 loss while the RedHawks (8-11, 4-3 MAC) captured their third consecutive win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The RedHawks secured the doubles point to take an early 1-0 lead. Eastern's tandem of Iva Daneva (Kavadarci, North Macedonia/DSU Sportska Akademija) and Cylova Zuleyka Hukmasabiyya (Serang, Indonesia/SMAN 2 Kota Serang) earned a 6-3 victory at the No. 2 spot to get the ball rolling, but Miami claimed wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to clinch the opening point. Eastern nearly took the doubles point but fell short as the team of Kseniia Saenko (Voronezh, Russia/Gymnasium 2) and Regina Mendez Carreño (Los Cabos, Mexico/Picacho McGregor) fell at No. 3, 7-5.
In singles play, the hosts captured wins in the first five completed bouts before Pehal Kharadkar (Indore, India/Daly College Indore) battled back for a three-set win at No. 3 to secure the lone point of the day for the Eagles. Kharadkar, who won her match, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5, won the first set before dropping the second and finding herself down, 3-1 in the third. She fought back to tie the set at 3-3 before trailing, 5-4. From there, she won three consecutive games to win the match.
