Lowe named All-MAC Second Team in the all-around, Nihart earns All-MAC Freshman Team honors on floor

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Senior Kyrie Lowe earned All Mid-American Conference Second Team honors in the all-around while freshman Macy Nihart secured a spot on the All-MAC Freshman Team on floor as the league announced its All MAC teams and specialty awards Tuesday, March 17.

Lowe (Lake Worth, Fla./Park Vista) has served as Eastern Michigan's only all around competitor this season and delivered consistent performances across every event for the Eagles. She set career highs on vault with a 9.775, beam with a 9.900, floor with a 9.850, and in the all-around with a 39.200, while her bars score sits just below her personal best. Her 9.900 on beam stands as the only routine by an EMU gymnast to reach that mark this season. Lowe also claimed nine event titles during the year and finished the regular season with a 39.000 all-around average to secure All-MAC Second Team recognition.

A steady contributor throughout her rookie campaign, Nihart (East Lansing, Mich./Home School) competed in every meet this season for Eastern Michigan. She opened the year in the lineup on beam and floor before adding vault later in the season. Nihart recorded career highs of 9.825 on floor, 9.725 on vault, and 9.625 on beam. She posted a 9.800 on floor against George Washington, Fisk, and Towson as the Eagles recorded their season best team score of 195.225. She also posted a 9.800 on floor against No. 1 Oklahoma and No. 9 Michigan as the Eagles recorded their third highest team score of the season, a 195.025. Two days later, she tied for third with a 9.825 on floor against Kent State, the second highest floor score posted by a freshman in the MAC that weekend. Nihart finished the regular season with a 9.790 floor average to earn a spot on the All-MAC Freshman Team.
