Baseball to Honor 1976 College World Series Team on Celebration Weekend

Celebration Weekend will take place Friday-Sunday, May 1-3, against Bowling Green State University, CWS Recognition on May 2

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University baseball team will welcome back its 1976 College World Series (CWS) team along with a multitude of EMU baseball alums on Celebration Weekend Friday-Sunday, May 1-3, at Oestrike Stadium against the Bowling Green State University Falcons. The weekend is headlined by the 1976 CWS team recognition that will take place Saturday, May 2, as the team will celebrate the 50-year anniversary of its second CWS berth. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. with a special ceremony scheduled pregame.
Alumni scheduled to attend include Ken Bruchanski (1973-75), Thom Boutin (1974-76), Ted Dasen (1974-77), Glenn Gulliver (1973-76), Jerry Keller (1974-76), Everett "Butch" Meggitt (1975-76), Bob Owchinko (1973-76), and Jeffery Washington (1971-75). Other alumni are encouraged to attend as well and can RSVP here.
The first 150 fans to arrive Saturday will receive a green replica 1976 jersey that features the official 50-Year Anniversary Celebration Patch and alumni who attend will receive mini bats to commemorate the 1976 team's achievements.
The day will start with a pre-game on-field recognition of the 1976 CWS teams among other Eagles' baseball alumni. The on-field recognition will feature a public-address announcement about the achievements of the team, as captains Thom Boutin and Jeffery Washington will throw out the first pitch. Fans can also look forward to participating in 1976 CWS trivia in between innings.
