Stecko hit a home run in all four games, April 22-26

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University baseball student-athlete Ty Stecko was named Men's Scholar-Athlete of the Week by the Mid-American Conference Thursday, April 30.

Stecko (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin/Mount St. Mary's) homered in every game he played in last week, April 22-26, totaling five long balls in four games, including a two-homer game against Northern Illinois, April 25.

In 18 at-bats, the senior recorded a .500 batting average and 1.968 OPS. He had nine hits, seven of which went for extra bases (two doubles and five home runs), equaling 10 RBI and 26 total bases. He is the first EMU player to homer in four consecutive games since the 2002 season, when program career home runs leader Ryan Goleski (2001-03) did so from May 17-19 in the 2002 season.

The Scholar-Athlete of the Week Award is presented to a MAC male and/or female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during that week's competition. The winners are selected by a representative of the MAC's Faculty Athletics Representatives (FARs).

The award marked the first of Stecko's career, the sixth for EMU Athletics overall this season, and the first time a member of the baseball program has earned the honor since Logan Hugo did so, May 10, 2023.
