CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University volleyball student-athlete Surabhi Srinivasan was named Mid-American Conference Women's Scholar Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Thursday, Oct. 15.
Srinivasan (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Jerome) earned the honor for the first time in her career after recording 43 digs on the week at a 4.78 digs/set clip. She added 10 assists and one service ace. Srinivasan had a career-high 10 assists against Buffalo, Oct. 9, en route to recording her first career double-double with her 23 digs. She tallied 20 digs at UB, Oct. 10, representing back-to-back matches with 20+ digs, the first time she's accomplished that feat since Oct. 10 and 16, 2025.
The senior libero currently ranks second in the conference in both total digs and digs/set, with 297 digs, averaging a career-best 4.50 digs/set.
This award is the first from an Eastern volleyball student-athlete in the 2026 season. The last time a volleyball student-athlete earned the recognition was Nov. 19, 2025, when Hatteras Welker was tabbed with the honor.
The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week Award is presented to a MAC male and/or female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during that week's competition. The winners are selected by a representative of the MAC's Faculty Athletics Representatives (FARs).
