Brushwood Shares Floor Win as Eastern Takes Third at Air Force

(EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team finished third at the Air Force Tri-Meet with a team score of 193.750, Friday night inside Cadet West Gym, moving to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in MAC action. Air Force claimed the team title with a 195.225, followed by Boise State at 194.050, while Kent State placed fourth with 193.150. The meet was highlighted by a first-place tie on floor from Abby Brushwood and a fourth place all around finish from Kyrie Lowe.
How It Happened:
Eastern opened the meet on floor and posted a 48.450 team score. Abby Brushwood (State College, Pa./State College Area) tied for first in the event with a 9.875, while Kyrie Lowe (Lake Worth, Fla./Park Vista) followed with a 9.775. Macy Nihart (East Lansing, Mich./Home School) added a 9.650, and Savanna Dunwoody (Spearfish, S.D./Spearfish) and Priya Karle (Canton, Mass./Canton) each recorded 9.575 scores to keep the rotation steady.
Vault followed with a team score of 48.525. Gwendelyn Cantu (Joliet, Ill./Providence Catholic) and Kendall Landry (Frisco, Texas/Wakeland) paced the lineup with matching 9.725 scores. Brushwood and Dunwoody each added 9.700 routines, while Lowe and Georgie Slack (Uttoxeter, England/Thomas Alleynes) posted 9.675 scores to keep the rotation steady. Nihart also recorded a 9.675 in an exhibition performance.
On bars, Eastern totaled 47.925. Lowe led the lineup with a 9.800, followed by Keeley Kohler (Davison, Mich./Powers Catholic) with a 9.725. Cantu added a 9.675, and Analiah Solorio (Littleton, Colo./Chatfield Senior) posted a 9.550. Jacquelyn Patterson (Mason, Ohio/Mason) and Sanai Evans (Norcross, Ga./Paul Duke STEM) opened the rotation.
Beam produced Eastern's top rotation of the meet with a 48.825 team score. Kohler led the way with a 9.850, matching her career best, while Katin Childress (Prosper, Texas/Prosper) followed with a 9.875, also matching her career best. Solorio recorded a 9.800, and Lowe added a 9.675, as Nihart and Patterson delivered steady routines early in the lineup.
Lowe finished fourth in the all-around with a score of 38.925.
