The EMU senior led Team Canada to a 2-1 day and is currently tied for second in scoring amongst all women

PUNTA ARENAS, Chile (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University women's basketball senior Sisi Eleko led her native country Canada to a 2-1 day as she completed the first day of the 2025 FIBA 3x3 Youth Nations America Stop One Tournament in Punta Arenas, Chile, leading the Maple Leaf to a 15-13 win over the United States and a 22-5 routing of the Cayman Islands Monday, July 21

Eleko (Montreal, Quebec/New Hope Academy Canisius) currently serves as the leading scorer on Team Canada as her day-one 21-point total ties for the second-most in the tournament.

"It means the world to represent Team Canada, my family, and the Eastern Michigan program on an international level," Eleko said. "It's truly a dream come true and I can't thank God enough for the opportunity."

Eleko's best performance came against the Cayman Islands when she poured in 12 points before adding five in a nail-biting, 21-19 loss to Chile. All remaining game times, opponents, and streaming links can be accessed here.

"Representing her country for FIBA 3x3 is an incredible opportunity that Sisi {Eleko} has earned," Head Coach Sahar Nusseibeh said. "She works like a pro and is relentless in accomplishing her goals. This is a great step forward for her and we have all the confidence that she will continue to do Eastern women's basketball proud!"

The 2024 All-MAC Second Team selection ranked among the top players in the MAC statistically throughout the season. Her 17.9 points ranked second while her 500 points stood third. On the glass, her 10.1 average ranked first and made her the only player to average in double figures. Additionally, she ranked second in total rebounds at 284, second in defensive rebounds with 205, and fourth in offensive rebounds with 79 while averaging 34.0 minutes played, the seventh-most in the MAC.

On the national level, Eleko finished the regular season ranked 21st in the NCAA in defensive rebounds per game (7.3), 23rd in rebounds per game (10.1), 26th in double-doubles (14), and 45th in total rebounds (283). With those numbers, she ranks 23rd in rebounds per game (8.81) for a career among active players in the NCAA while ranking 29th in double-doubles with 34. She also is one of only 167 players to have scored 1,000 points and pulled down 600 rebounds in a career that is currently playing.

Eleko finished her first season in Ypsilanti with 500 points and 283 rebounds, both of which held historical significance. Her 500 points made her just the 13th player in program history to score 500+ points in a season while making her the fifth to do so in her junior campaign. Additionally, the 283 rebounds ranked third on the program's single-season list with only Felicia Hines (1984-85) and Suzanne Huff (1980-81) posting more with 292 and 286, respectively. Her season averages of 17.9 points and 10.1 rebounds made her just the third player to average a double-double in a season for the Eagles. The first was Hines, who averaged 12.0 points and 11.7 rebounds per game in the 1984-85 season, with the most recent addition to the ledger coming in 2020-21 when Ce'Nara Skanes averaged 16.0 points and 10.9 rebounds.

Ranked ninth on the program's all-time double-doubles list (since 1999-00) with 14, Eleko is only the seventh different EMU player to average 17.9 points or better in a season and the first to do so since the 2015-16 season when Cha Sweeny averaged 18.3 points per game. She also is just the second player in EMU history to score over 400 points and record over 200 rebounds in a season, joining Natachia Watkins (2011-12) on the list after she finished her season with 405 points and 218 rebounds.
