YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – In just its third year, the Eastern Michigan University lacrosse team is No. 1 as the Eagles finished the 2025 regular season in a three-way tie for the 2025 Mid-American Conference title, sharing the top award with the University of Akron and Robert Morris University following results of games played Sunday, April 27. The Eagles finished their MAC slate with a 4-2 record last week following a 16-12 home win over Akron with the Zips' 13-11 home win over the Colonials, April 27, making both teams 4-2.
After playing its first season in 2023 and finishing 2-14, Eastern Michigan made a big move in 2024 by finishing 7-8 in the regular season and 4-2 in MAC play to earn its first postseason berth as the No. 3 seed in the MAC Tournament. The Eagles would go on to lose in their debut, 12-11, in Mount Pleasant, Mich., to finish the year 7-9. This year, the Eagles continued their climb and added their first league crown while securing the 159th in EMU history, the most of any institution in the MAC.
With the final results tabulated from April 27, including the University of Detroit Mercy's 9-7 home win over Central Michigan University, the field is now set for the 2025 MAC Tournament, which will played May 1 and 3 at Joe Walton Stadium in Moon Township, Pa. Robert Morris is the No. 1 seed and tournament host and will face No. 4 Detroit Mercy at 1 p.m., Thursday, May 1. The Eagles will be the No. 2 seed and will face No. 3 Akron at 4 p.m. in the second semifinal. The winner of the two games will meet Saturday, May 3, at 1 p.m. with the winner of the final earning the league's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
