The award comes one day after being named the MAC Offensive Player of the Week
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Tracy Grollman, a member of the Eastern Michigan University lacrosse team, has been named the Mid-American Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week, the league announced April 23. The honor is the second from the MAC in as many days for Grollman as she was named the MAC Offensive Player of the Week, April 22.
The scholar-athlete award is given weekly throughout the academic year. To be eligible, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average and have excelled in competition the previous week. The award is voted on by the Faculty Athletic Representatives (FARs) in the MAC.
Grollman (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis Area Christian School), who is set to graduate later this weekend with a degree in criminal justice with a concentration in law enforcement, led the way with in a 16-12 home win over the University of Akron (April 20) with team highs in goals (five), assists (three), and points (eight), while setting career-highs in both goals and points to help EMU to its program-record eighth win of the year and its second consecutive MAC Tournament berth. One game removed from scoring six points at Kent State University (April 13), Grollman posted eight to tie for the fourth-highest single-game total in program history and third-best in a MAC game at EMU. The five goals bettered her previous career high of four scored over two years ago, April 19, 2023, at Robert Morris University. Grollman's five goals were not the only hat trick she recorded as she posted a double-hat trick by adding three goals, earning the distinction for the second time in her career and just the third time in program history.
Grollman's fifth and final goal, which game at 11:10 remaining in the fourth, gave the Eagles a 13-12 lead, a lead they would not relinquish, while standing at the second game-winning goal of Grollman's career and her second this year after scoring the winner against the University of Detroit Mercy, April 6. With Eastern trailing, 7-5, she scored the first of her five goals, which also started a stretch of four consecutive goals scored by Grollman. The streak tied for the longest in program history and marked the second time in her career she scored four in a row with the first instance coming at Robert Morris, April 19, 2023.
The award for Grollman is her first weekly academic honor and the second earned in program history after Mackenzie Blackwell (North Beach, Md./Northern) was selected April 9 for the program's first honor.
