Eagles fell on the road, 10-9, despite four goals from Blackwell
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Mackenzie Blackwell tallied the 25th hat trick of her career to lead five different goal scores for the Eastern Michigan University lacrosse team as the Eagles dropped a 10-9 Mid-American Conference contest at rival Central Michigan University inside a rain-soaked CMU Soccer/Lacrosse Complex in Mount Pleasant, Mich., Sunday, March 30. The Eagles (5-5, 1-2 MAC) carried an 8-5 lead into the fourth quarter before the Chippewas (2-8, 1-2 MAC) went on a five-goal run to down the visitors.

But, with one second showing on the clock, the Chippewas answered with their third goal for a 3-2 advantage after one.
The Chippewas grew their lead to 4-2 three minutes into the stanza before the Eagles responded with the next four goals, including the final three of the second quarter. Following a CMU goal one minute later, the Eagles scored twice more to close out the third quarter with an 8-5 lead. With 38 seconds left in the half, Grollman bagged her second of the before Abby Alderman (Lusby, Md./Patuxent) added a score with four seconds on the clock.
Despite the lead, the tables turned on the Eagles as the Chippewas scored five consecutive goals, turning an 8-5 deficit into a 10-8 lead with 1:28 to play in the game. Eastern won the ensuing draw control and immediately went to goal with Blackwell scoring her fourth with 1:02 to play.
