Freshman tallied career-highs in points (eight) and goals (six) to lead EMU to victory

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Mid-American Conference announced its weekly award winners for lacrosse with Eastern Michigan University freshman Katheryn Wilson being named the MAC Offensive Player of the Week for March 25. Wilson set career highs in points (eight), goals (six), and assists (two) to lead the Eagles to a 19-6 home win over Youngstown State University, March 23, at Scicluna Field in Ypsilanti.

Wilson (Dacula, Ga./Mill Creek) led the Eagles on a historic day as she improved her career-high goals total from four to six while posting her fourth hat trick of the season and doubling her previous career high for points from four to eight as she added a pair of assists. Wilson scored two of her goals on free-position shots while scoring six goals on nine shots on frame in the contest. All told, her goals and points totals tied for the most by a player in the MAC for the 2025 season while tying for the third-highest totals in a single game in program history.

Wilson was the top scorer for the Eagles as they posted a school-record-tying 19 goals while allowing just six, the lowest allowed in a MAC contest in program history, while posting the largest winning margin in program history. Wilson, who scored two goals each in the first, second, and fourth quarters, tied the school record for goals and broke the mark for points in a home contest, both indoors and out.

The honor for Wilson is her first of the year, the fourth of the season for the team, and the second offensive accolade attained. Previously, Mackenzie Blackwell (North Beach, Md./Northern) was named the MAC Offensive Player of the Week, March 11, while Maddie Porter (Montrose, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) earned the MAC Goalkeeper of the Week honor twice (March 4 and March 11).
