Boris garners First-Team honors, Fisher and Lowe named to Second Team

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) —  The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team placed a trio of gymnast on the All-Mid-American Conference teams, the MAC announced Tuesday, March 18.

Senior Raisa Boris (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center) earned First Team honors while Alana Fisher (Athens, Ala./Alabama Connections Academy) and Kyrie Lowe (Lake Worth, Fla./Park Vista) both earned Second Team accolades.

The trio of Eagles marks the first time Eastern has had three student-athletes recognized as All-MAC since the 2015 campaign. In 2015, Anna Willette, Chantelle Loehner, and Kendall Valentin received all-conference honors.

Marking just the eighth different Eagle to earn a First Team nod in program history, Boris took the third overall spot among all all-arounders in the MAC with a NQS of 39.075. Although Boris has shown her all-around ability, she earned the accolade for her beam performances, in which she tops the MAC with a 9.850 NQS.

A six-time MAC Gymnast of the Week in her career, Boris leads the Green and White posting five all-around victories in her senior season.

In addition to her vault and floor efforts, Fisher took to the beam this season after competing just twice on the apparatus prior to her senior campaign. Fisher has produced six-straight beam efforts of at least 9.800 in the final regular season meets of the season. The Athens, Ala., native secured a pair of beam wins to go with her two wins on vault and one win on floor. Fisher's 9.845 NQS on beam ranks only behind Boris in the MAC.

Lowe holds a 9.825 NQS on bars, good for second in the conference. Lowe recorded a pair of wins on bars, as well as two all-around victories this season. Lowe's season on bars has been highlighted by an impressive 9.900 event win against Ball State, March 14, while her top all-around score came, March 9, against Sacramento State.
