OCALA, Fla. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University swim team concluded their 2024-25 season setting personal and season-best marks at the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America National Invitational Championships, held at the F.A.S.T. Facility, Thursday-Saturday, March 13-15.
The Eagles had 11 swimmers compete, earning totals of five personal-bests times and one season-best mark.
How it Happened
The Eagles underclassmen shined as all five personal-best marks came from freshmen and sophomores.
Sophomore breast/IM swimmer Nina Larosa (Bay Village, Ohio/Bay) placed first in the 50y breaststroke swim-off in a personal-best 28.61. Joining her with a PR in a breaststroke event was Lucy Noble (Flagler Beach, Fla./Flagler Palm Coast), who swam a personal best 1:04.18 in the 100y breaststroke time trials, placing second to Larosa who finished first in 1:02.71.
Emma Littrell (Taylor Mill, Ky./ St. Henry District) earned silver in the 100y butterfly time trial in a personal-best 56.25.
Sophomore fly/IM swimmer Tristen Mina (Santa Clara, Calif./The King's Academy) came away with a lifetime best in the 50y butterfly prelims in 25.08.
Nehir Oz (Istanbul, Turkey/Cevre) finished the 1000y freestyle in 10:15.09, placing 24th and marking a lifetime best for the freshman freestyler.
Outside of personal bests, senior backstroke and freestyler Kiersten Russell (Clinton, Mich./Saline) tabbed a season best in the 50y backstroke in 25.73. She later swam the same time in the 50y backstroke swim-off.
