Porter Repeats at MAC Goalkeeper of the Week

Sophomore reached 200 career saves while helping EMU to a 1-1 record on the road
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Mid-American Conference announced its weekly honorees for lacrosse awards, March 11, with Eastern Michigan University's Maddie Porter being named the MAC Goalkeeper of the Week for the second consecutive week. One of the top goalkeepers in the MAC, including her league-leading .507 save percentage, Porter helped the Eagles to a 1-1 record as they won, 10-4, at Butler University, March 7, before falling at the University of Cincinnati, 13-9, March 9.
Porter (Montrose, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) averaged 8.5 saves per game on the weekend as she tallied six at Butler to lead the Eagles to their program-record fourth consecutive win before stopping 11 at Cincinnati. Against the Bulldogs, she limited the hosts to just four goals, which are the fewest allowed in program history, surpassing the five allowed last year at Howard. The league leader in saves percentage (.504), Porter stopped 11 Cincinnati shots to tie for the seventh-highest save total in program history and post 11+ saves in a game for the fourth time this year. Porter has recorded 208 career saves as her third save of the game at Cincinnati made her the first EMU player to reach the milestone total.
Porter has been named the MAC Goalkeeper of the Week in back-to-back weeks and is the only player to earn back-to-back weekly awards from the league this season. Her honor this week is the third earned by the Eagles in 2025 after Mackenzie Blackwell (North Beach, Md./Northern) joined her last week as the MAC Offensive Player of the Week. Overall, the honor is the third earned by Porter after she was named the MAC Defensive Player of the Week April 9, 2024 (the goalkeeper honor was instituted in 2025).
MAC play begins this weekend for EMU with the Eagles traveling to Moon Township, Pa., to take on Robert Morris University, Sunday, March 16, at 12 p.m. and will be streamed live on ESPN+. When facing a MAC foe, the game will mark the third consecutive meeting against the Colonials for the Eagles as RMU took a 12-10 win at EMU (April 27, 2024) in the regular season finale before downing the Eagles, 12-11, one week later (May 2) in the semifinals of the MAC Tournament.
