KALAMAZOO, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - Senior Raisa Boris secured her fourth all-around win of the season as the Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team fell to Western Michigan, Sunday, Feb. 9, 194.825-193.975, inside University Arena.
Boris (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center) scored a season-best 39.200 in the all-around, highlighted by an event win on beam to lead EMU (4-3 overall).
How It Happened
In addition to Boris' showing, Kyrie Lowe (Lake Worth, Fla./Park Vista) also competed in all-around, finishing close behind by accumulating a career-high 38.925 points.
Lowe produced the Eagles' top result on bars with a 9.825, securing her second bars win of the season, while Boris posted a 9.800 as Eastern scored 47.875 to open the meet.
On vault, Eastern had four student-athletes score 9.700, which included Boris, Lowe, Gwendelyn Cantu (Joliet, Ill./Providence Catholic), and Alana Fisher (Athens. Ala./Alabama Connections Academy) as the Eagles tallied 48.450 points in the event.
Abby Brushwood (State College, Pa./State College Area) registered a 9.850 on floor, which equaled her career high and was EMU's second-highest score of the meet. Eastern collected 48.875 points, its second-best mark of the season in the event, as Boris added 9.825 in the event.
The Eagles closed the meet on beam, led by Boris' 9.875, Eastern's top score of the day. Fisher was second in the event, scoring a career-high 9.825. Eastern's totaled 48.775 on beam helped by a career-best 9.775 from Katin Childress (Prosper, Texas/Prosper).
