Lacrosse Selected Third in MAC Preseason Coaches Poll

Eagles earned their highest preseason ranking heading into their third varsity season
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Mid-American Conference announced its 2025 MAC Preseason Coaches Poll, Feb. 5, with the Eastern Michigan University lacrosse team voted to finish third in league play. The Eagles, who placed third one year ago, were also one of three teams to earn first-place votes as well as votes to win the conference tournament.
Reigning tournament champion Robert Morris University earned the top spot with 34 points and four first-place votes while Central Michigan University, the 2024 MAC regular season champion, was second with 31 points and two first-place votes. The Eagles tallied 26 points and one first-place vote for third while Kent State University was voted fourth with 18 points. The remainder of the voting saw the University of Detroit Mercy in fifth (16 points) while both the University of Akron and Youngstown State University shared the sixth position with 11 points each.
The coaches also were asked to vote for the team they thought would capture the 2025 MAC Tournament and earn the conference's berth into the 2025 NCAA Tournament. In that vote, CMU earned three votes while both EMU and RMU earned two.
The third-place showing in the poll is the highest the Eagles have earned in their three-year history after being selected sixth (tie) in 2023 and fourth last year. The 26 points are 10 more than the 16 earned in 2024 (13 in 2023) while the first-place vote is the first the Eagles have received. Additionally, the votes to win the conference tournament are the first received in program history.
The Eagles open their 2025 season later this week with Head Coach Maddie Dugan, the reigning MAC Coach of the Year, set to lead the way. Eastern will play host to San Diego State University Sunday, Feb. 9, inside the EMU Indoor Practice Facility with the opening draw set for 12 p.m.
