Boris, Brushwood, and Chemotti among standouts for the Eagles

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team produced a season-best score of 195.775 Thursday, Feb. 27, inside the George Gervin GameAbove Center in a competition against Western Michigan University and Wilberforce University.
 
Ella Chemotti (Canton, Mich./Canton) and Abby Brushwood (State College, Pa./State College Area) each won events with a 9.900 as Chemotti took the beam crown and Brushwood continued her impressive stretch on floor.
 
Brushwood has scored 9.800 or higher in six-straight meets on floor, tallying a 9.850 or higher in five of those six meets.
 
Raisa Boris (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center) registered a season-best 39.300 all-around score, which is tied for the 19th-best mark in program history.
 
How It Happened
While Boris earned her fifth all-around win of the season with a 39.300, Kyrie Lowe (Lake Worth, Fla./Park Vista) also competed in all four events, scoring 38.200 points.
 
Western Michigan controlled the vault, taking the first four places before Brushwood and Boris each ranked fifth with a 9.800, which is Brushwood's second-best score of her career, falling .05 points short of her career-best 9.850 set Jan. 28, 2024. Lowe and Alana Fisher (Athens. Ala./Alabama Connections Academy) each added 9.750 points while Brianna Lucas (Marietta, Ga./Lassiter) posted a career-best 9.675 in her second career meet. Eastern recorded 48.825 points on vault, just .025 off its season-best 48.850 from the season-opening meet, Jan. 12.
 
Chemotti and Analiah Solorio (Littleton, Colo./Chatfield Senior) produced the Eagles' top results on bars with fourth-place marks at 9.800. Solorio equaled her career high. Keeley Kohler (Davison, Mich./Powers Catholic) logged a career-high 9.775 on bars while Sanai Evans (Norcross, Ga./Paul Duke STEM) also had a career-high 9.600 as Eastern registered 48.725 points in the event, just .10 points short of its season-best 48.825 set Jan.17.
 
The Eagles continued their strong stretch on beam, tallying 49.200 points, their best score in any event this season and EMU's eighth-best mark in program history in the event. Eastern took the top-three spots as Chemotti won with 9.900 points, Fisher recorded a career-high 9.875, and Boris matched her season high with 9.875.
 
Brushwood's career-high 9.900 won the floor competition as the sophomore has won the event in back-to-back meets after tallying a then-career-high 9.875 at Central Michigan, Feb. 14. Boris was second on floor by equaling her season-high with a 9.875. Lowe and Fisher chipped in 9.775s as the Eagles' 49.025 mark is its best in the event this season.
