ANN ARBOR, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University divers Megan Lupa and Taityn Speier both earned NCAA Zone Diving Championships cuts in the 1m dive as the Eagles finished the non-scoring Michigan First Chance Meet, hosted by Michigan, at the Canham Natatorium, Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 15-16.

In total, the team came away with 18 season-best (SB) and collegiate personal-bests (PR) marks.

How it Happened
Lupa (Campden, Ontario/West Niagara Secondary) earned two collegiate PRs on the day, scoring 280.70 in the 1m and breaking 300 in the 3m for the first time in her Eastern career with a 306.70 score. Speier (Fairfax, Va./WT Woodson) earned her first NCAA Zones cut with a score of 281.90 in the 1m dive.

In the pool, the Eagles swam particularly well in the 50y butterfly. Five of the six Eagles competing in the event recorded either a season-best or personal-best mark. Led by Tristen Mina (Santa Clara, Calif./The King's Academy) who touched the wall first in a season-best 25.66, marking a season-fastest for EMU.

The 50y breaststroke was also a strong showing for Eastern. Three of the four Eagles swam a SB while Nina Larosa (Bay Village, Ohio/Bay) paced the team, placing first in a season-best 29.31, the fastest time in the event from an Eagle this season. Her swim was one of three that went down as a SB for the sophomore. She also grabbed season-bests in the 50y freestyle (29.31) and 100y breaststroke (1:03.70).

The 200y medley relay team of Siporah Sang (London, Ontario/Sir Frederick Banting Secondary), Larosa, Mina, and Lucy Noble (Flagler Beach, Fla./Flagler Palm Coast) also swam a season-best time as they finished first in 1:43.45.
