Carson McCoy Named MAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week

McCoy earned the honor for the first time in his career after running a MAC-best 1:50.28 800m
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University men's track & field student-athlete Carson McCoy was named Mid-American Conference (MAC) Men's Track Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday, Feb. 11.
McCoy (Pittsburgh, Pa./Deer Lakes) earned the honor for the first time in his career after clocking a conference-best and personal-record 1:50.28 800m run, finishing fifth at the Michigan Invitational, Feb. 8.
McCoy's award marks Eastern's third of the season. Previously, Lucky Fiaku (Nimo, Nigeria/Busy International Secondary) earned the MAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week award and Josephine Oloye (Iwaro-Oka, Nigeria/Geomi Secondary School/Tayelolu Memorial) garnered the MAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week accolade earlier in the season, Dec. 9.
Additionally, McCoy's mark is one of the Eagles' five that stands as the top in the conference. Outside of the 800m, Eastern holds the top mark in the mile run (4:03.26 – Kian Wiles (Hull, England/St. Mary's College)), 5000m (14:22.88 – Sam Peterson (Charlevoix, Mich./Charlevoix)), high jump (2.10m (6-10.75 - Fiaku), and long jump (7.52m (24-08.25 – Formula Thompson (St. Catherine, Jamaica/Jamaica College/Nebraska)).
