Women's Hoops Defeats Robert Morris in Home Opener Behind Eleko's Double-Double

Eleko is now up to 18 double-doubles, the second highest mark in program history

– The Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team topped Robert Morris University, 64-54, in its home-opening game Wednesday afternoon inside the George Gervin GameAbove Center, Nov. 26. 
 
Eastern started the game on a 7-0 run and never looked back as it never trailed in the contest. Eastern was propelled by Sisi Eleko's (Montreal, Quebec/New Hope Academy/Canisius) fourth double-double of the season with 23 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Peyton Hill (St. Louis, Mo./Incarnate Word Academy) added a career-best 17 points while tying her career high with six rebounds. Brooklyn Thrash (Wayne, Ohio/Elmwood/Canisius) contributed with 10 points, four rebounds, and one steal. 
 
Eastern outperformed the Colonials nearly across the board, highlighted by a 16-7 advantage in second chance points and a 20-13 edge in points off turnovers. 

How it Happened
Eastern took charge at the start of the game, landing the first seven points, 7-0, culminating in a three-point bucket from Hill. Going into the first medial timeout, the Eagles maintained control, scoring an additional four points and only giving up five for an 11-5 advantage over the Colonials. Eastern did most of its first-quarter damage in the paint, scoring seven out of 16 near the basket while maintaining a 43.8 shooting percentage. Eastern's defense was able to hold Robert Morris to a 15.4 clip, ending the first quarter on top, 16-6.   
 
Robert Morris answered to score the first six points of the second quarter, allowing Eastern to score only two points with 6:14 left in the quarter as Eastern held onto an 18-12 lead. Eastern was able to maintain its lead in the second quarter and entered the half up, 26-20. Eleko had firm control of the boards in the first half as she corralled nine in the first half of play. 
 
Eastern continued its lead in the third quarter as Eleko secured the 18th double-double of her EMU career with 10 points and 12 rebounds. The Eagles concluded the third quarter with a 40-32 advantage, holding RMU to a 33.3 shooting percentage going into the final quarter. 
 
Eastern grabbed its second 10+ point lead of the game with a 49-38 edge with 7:04 left in the final quarter. The Eastern offense turned it on in the fourth, scoring 24 points, its highest single-quarter point total of the season as the game ended in a 64-54 final in favor of the Green and White.  

Game Notes
» Eastern's record improved to 3-3 (0-0 MAC) and Robert Morris' went to 4-2 (0-0 Horizon League).
» EMU out-rebounded the Colonials, 41-39, marking the fourth time the Eagles have out-rebounded their opponent this season. EMU has out-rebounded its foe in four of six games in the 2025-26 campaign.
» The Eagles led the Colonials in a litany of categories, including field goal percentage (36-33%), three-point field goal percentage (22-13%), and free throw percentage (91-70%). Eastern also led in points off turnovers (20-13) and second-chance points (16-7).
» Eastern shot over 80% from the free-throw line (90.9%/20-for-22) for the fifth time this season as it has done so in 5-of-6 contests. Eastern ranks first in the MAC and third in America in free-throw percentage as it is shooting 85.6% through six games. 
» Eastern's 90.9% clip from the free-throw line marks the fourth-best value in a single game in program history.  
» Eastern's most lucrative offensive quarter was the fourth, scoring 24 points with a perfect 9-for-10 showing from the free-throw line. Its best defensive quarter was the first, holding the Colonials to just six points on 15.4% (2-for-13) shooting, including a 1-for-6 clip from three-point range.
» Eastern's largest lead of the game was 13 points (34-21) with 6:13 remaining in the game. 
» Eastern's 24 points in the fourth quarter is its largest single-quarter point total of the season. It previously had a pair of 22-point quarters against Louisiana Monroe, Nov. 3, and Canisius, Nov. 7. 
» The Eagles never trailed against the Colonials, marking the second time EMU has failed to trail in a game this season. The last time came in the 70-39 win against Canisius on Nov. 7, 2025.
» Sisi Eleko recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 23 points and 14 rebounds. Her four double-doubles lead the MAC and rank as the second-highest in value in the nation this season. Her 23 points scored mark her sixth double-digit scoring outing this season as she has made the mark in all six of EMU's games thus far, and her 14 rebounds are her fourth time with 10 or more this season and her first double-double featuring 20+ points this season.
» Sisi Eleko's 14 rebounds mark a season high and are the second most by an individual in a single game in the MAC this season. 
» Sisi Eleko shot 50% or better from the floor for the third time this season and 12th as an Eagle.
» Peyton Hill had a career-high of 17 points while matching a career best with six rebounds. 
» Peyton Hill was 6-for-7 from the free-throw line. Hill stands second in the conference by value with a 93.3% conversion rate from the free-throw line. Her clip is the best of any MAC freshman as it stands 12th nationally.  

Historical Notes
» The meeting marked the second all-time between the Eagles and Colonials. Eastern holds a 2-0 all-time record when facing RMU and a 1-0 mark when facing it in Ypsilanti. The game marked the first time the two teams have matched up since Nov. 28, 1987, a 65-60 EMU win on the road.  
» Eastern has surpassed its 2024-25 win total just six games into the 2025-26 campaign. It has tripled its non-conference win total and matched its home win total from the prior season as well.
» Sisi Eleko secured her 18th double-double as an Eagle, now possessing sole ownership of second place in program history. She needs 14 more to tie Ce'Nara Skanes (2020-23) for the most in program annals (31). Eleko has recorded a double-double in 52.9% (18-of-34) of her games as an Eagle, marking the best double-double rate in program history, as she is the fastest to reach 18 double-doubles as an Eagle. 
» The game against the Colonials marked EMU's 99th against the current membership of the Horizon League. Eastern now holds a 56-43 record when facing it.
» Ainhoa Cea (Irun, Spain/IES Pio Baroja Bhi/Lipscomb) now needs 12 more points to reach the 500-points milestone. She would be the second Eagle this season to do so along with Thrash, who accomplished the feat at Michigan State, Nov. 9.
» The meeting marked the 50th home opener for the Eagles. After the win, The Eagles' hold a 38-13 record when playing their first home game of the season. Eastern is 2-4 in its last six home openers after a streak of 19 consecutive home-opening wins from the 2000-02 season till the 2019-2020 campaign, the longest home-opening streak in program history. 
» Head Coach Sahar Nusseubeh is now 4-1 in home-opening games as a collegiate head coach and 1-1 in her EMU tenure as the win over the Colonials marked her first home-opening victory as the leader of the Eastern program. 
» Eastern is now 7-4 when matched up with a Horizon League foe in its first home game of the season.
