Foeman Announces Seven Additions to 2026 Volleyball Recruiting Class

The student-athletes will join the Eastern program prior to the 2026 season
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University Head Volleyball Coach Kevin Foeman announced the addition of seven members to the program for the 2026 season Monday, Nov. 24.
Mya Eberlein (Edwardsburg, Mich./Edwardsburg), Lina Govoni (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West), Maddie Herman (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville Community), Kayla Ostrander (Shelby Township, Mich./Eisenhower), Nattie Slusher (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton), Olivia Stewart (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley), and Haley Trosky (Pittsburgh, Pa./West Allegheny) will join the program for the 2026 season as Herman and Trosky will graduate high school early and arrive on campus in January 2026.
The seven-person class features student-athletes from five different states with two hailing from Michigan (Eberlein/Ostrander), two from Illinois (Govoni/Stewart), and one each from Indiana (Herman), Ohio (Slusher), and Pennsylvania (Trosky). Eastern is bringing in three middle blockers in Eberlein, Stewart, and Herman, two outside hitters in Trosky and Slusher, one defensive specialist/ libero in Ostrander, and one setter in Govoni.
Mya Eberlein | MB (Edwardsburg, Mich/Edwardsburg)
EMU 2026-27: Will join the program as a freshman in the fall of 2026.
HIGH SCHOOL: Will graduate from Edwardsburg High School in the spring of 2026 where she participated in the school's volleyball program as a middle blocker under head coaches Sarah and Vince Strefling as Vince is the father of former Eastern standout, Frankie Strefling (2017-20)…Earned three letters and named captain for two years…Earned an honorable mention all-conference in 2023 and 2024 and was awarded most improved player as a sophomore in 2023…Helped her team win the conference her sophomore and senior year along with winning districts and regionals in 2023…Eberlein set the EHS single-season blocks record with 107 blocks…She recorded 217 kills off a .333 hitting percentage with 87 blocks, 50 aces, and a .908 serving percentage during her senior year, leading the Eddies to a 29-9 record…Eberlein participated in tennis and basketball, earning seven letters total, four in tennis, and three in basketball…In tennis, she was named second team all-conference following her freshman and sophomore seasons, and first team all-conference as a junior, eventually earning honorable mention all-state after winning her conference as an individual…She played a role in the Edwardsburg basketball team winning districts in 2024 as she was named the team's most improved player as a sophomore…In the club volleyball scene, Eberlein participated with the Northern Indiana Volleyball Association for four years as a middle blocker…Under head coach Adria Anderson, Eberlein assisted in multiple tournament wins, including the Nike President's Day Classic and central zone.
PERSONAL: Full Name: Mya Jane Eberlein…Daughter of Joel and Lee Eberlein…Has four siblings, including one brother, Owen, and three sisters, Aubrey, Anna, and Morgan… Her father played football at Olivet Nazarene while her mother ran track & field at Notre Dame…Eberlein's uncle participated in baseball at Bowling Green State University…Major: Biology.
Lina Govoni | S (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West)
EMU 2026-2027: Will join the program as a freshman in the fall of 2026.
HIGH SCHOOL: Will graduate from Joliet West High School in the spring of 2026…Participated in the Tiger's volleyball program as a setter under head coach Christopher Lincoln…Named team captain for two years and helped her team to Southwest Prairie Conference Championships in 2025 and 2023, and three IHSA Regional Championships from 2023-25…Awarded IVCA All-State First Team IVCA Academic All-State First Team in 2025 among numerous other prestigious awards throughout her high-school career…A 2025 AVCA Best and Brightest Award Recipient, Govoni finished her senior year with 354 assists (4.3 per set), 198 digs (2.4 per set), and 233 kills (2.80 per set) off a .405 hitting percentage, the 11th-best in the state of Illinois in 2025 …Also recorded 52 blocks (0.6 per set)…At the club level, Govoni also participated in the Sports Performance Volleyball Club and earned a 17 Club Division AAU National Championship where she earned MVP honors.

Maddie Herman | MB (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville Community)
EMU 2026-2027: Will graduate high school early and join the program in January 2026.
HIGH SCHOOL: Will graduate from Zionsville Community High School where she participated in the Eagle's volleyball program, earning three letters as a middle blocker under head coach Jenna Tadros…Named IHSVCA Academic All-State and earned the ZCHS Eagle Scholar Award in 2025 while totaling 96 kills (1.10 per set) off a .219 hitting percentage with 52 blocks (0.57 per set) her senior year…At the club level, Herman participated with The Academy Volleyball Club under head coach Travis Fuller, where she helped her team to fifth place at the 2025 17 Open AAU Nationals.

Kayla Ostrander | DS/L (Shelby Township, Mich./Eisenhower)
EMU 2026-2027: Will join the program as a freshman in the fall of 2026.
HIGH SCHOOL: Will graduate from Eisenhower High School in the spring of 2026…Participated in the Eagle's volleyball program as a libero under Head Coach Caitlin LaPratt…Earned four letters and was team captain for two years while leading the Eagles to a record of 33-5-3 her senior year…Led Eisenhower to a 2025 MAC-Red Championship as the team was also recognized as academic all-state, and MAC All-Academic…Indiviudally earned all-region, all-county, all-county defense, all-conference, all-academic, and best defensive player honors…Finished her senior year with 583 digs, 71 assists, and 41 aces…At the club level, she participated in Legacy Volleyball Club for ten years as a defensive specialist and libero under Head Coaches Kacy Byron, Ricky Cotrill, and Lauren Duquette…Assisted her team in earning a 2024 Triple Crown Open Division Championship and JVA Summerfest Open Division Championships from 2023-25…Also placed third in the open division at the 2023 and 2025 AAU Nationals, respectively.

Olivia Stewart | MB (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley)
EMU 2026-27: Will join the program as a freshman in the fall of 2026.
HIGH SCHOOL: Will graduate from Metea Valley High School in the spring of 2026 where she participated on the Mustang's volleyball team under Head Coach Dave Macdonald as a middle blocker, earning four varsity letters and serving as captain for three seasons…Named to the AVCA Phenom List and Naperville Sun Girls Volleyball All-Area Team in 2023…A three-time academic all-state honoree, Stewart was named Dupage Valley All-Conference in all four seasons at MVHS…She led the Mustangs to two Dupage Valley Conference Championships and was named to the USAV Great Lakes U17 High Performance Team…Stewart put down 162 kills (1.97 per set) off a .205 hitting percentage while recording 78 blocks (0.95 per set), 24 aces (0.30 per set), and 37 digs (0.45 per set) as a senior…Stewart participated in the Sport Performance Volleyball Club for 10 years as a middle blocker under head coaches Troy Gilb and Seth Salmon…Won the 16 Open JVA World Challenge Championship where she notably totaled 32 blocks in the process, and earned runner-up at the 17 Open National Championship…Also played in the 17 Open AAU National Championship Game.

Nattie Slusher | OH (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton)
EMU 2026-27: Will join the program as a freshman in the fall of 2026.
HIGH SCHOOL: Will graduate from Seton High School in the spring of 2026 where she participated in the Saint's volleyball program as an outside hitter under Head Coach Kelly Crowley…Earned an Ohio State Championship in the 2024 and 2025 seasons…Awarded all-district first team and GGCL First Team in 2024 and 2025…Also named GGCL Second Team in 2023…Assisted her team to three consecutive GGCL League Championships from 2023-25…Averaged 3.60 kills per set as a senior, totaling 290 kills off a .324 hitting percentage while aiding defensively with 0.60 blocks per set, posting 51 blocks overall…Averaged a career 2.70 kills per set off a .313 hitting percentage and 0.50 blocks per set…At the club level, she participated with the Tri-State Elite for eight years as an outside hitter.

Haley Trosky | OH/OPP (Pittsburgh, Pa./West Allegheny)
EMU 2026-27: Will join the program as a freshman in January 2026.
HIGH SCHOOL: Will graduate from West Allegheny High School early where she participated in the volleyball program all four years as an outside hitter under Head Coach Steven Nicola…Earned four letters and was named captain for two years…Earned Class 3A Section 1 All-Star First Team, WPIAL Class 3A All-Star Third Team, and three West Allegheny Student-Athlete of the Week awards in 2025…Also named Beaver Country Times Preseason Player of the Year in 2024 and 2025…In 2024, earned Class 3A Section 1 All-Star First Team honors to go with WPIAL Class 3A All-Star Third Team recognition…In 2023, named Class 3A Section 2 All-Star Second Team and WPIAL Class 3A Trib Player of the Week…Totaled at least 1,000 kills in her high school career…As a senior, she recorded 505 kills (5.50 kills per set) off a .347 hitting percentage with 45 aces, and 40 blocks…Trosky also participated in the high jump for the West Allegheny track and field team for one year, earning one letter as she was a WPIAL Championship Qualifier…In the club volleyball scene, Trosky participated four years with the Pittsburgh Elite Volleyball Club as an outside hitter and opposite…Named an AVCA Phenom in 2025 after landing on the watchlist in 2024…Also earned a spot on the 2025 JVA Watchlist…Notably achieved a 10'3" approach jump.
