Gymnastics Drops First Meet of 2025 Season to Kent State

Boris turned in a season-high 39.175 all-around effort to conclude three-meet homestand

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics program dropped its first Mid-American Conference meet of the 2025 season against Kent State University Sunday, Jan. 26, 195.425-194.525, inside the George Gervin GameAbove Center.
The meet's theme was the "Purple & Alumni Meet" as the team promoted epilepsy awareness and recognized some of the program's alumni.
The Eagles had one gymnast in all four events score at least a 9.750.
How It Happened
Raisa Boris (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center) was once again the leader for Eastern Michigan, finishing with a season-best score of 39.175 to finish first place in the all-around category. She was almost a point and a half ahead of second place among gymnasts who participated in all four events.
The Eagles began the meet on vault and were led by Boris and Gwendelyn Cantu (Joilet, Ill./Providence Catholic), who each tallied 9.750 as Eastern had a 48.600 overall. Boris and Cantu tied for fourth place. They finished ahead of three gymnasts for Eastern Michigan who had a 9.700, including Abby Brushwood (State College, Pa./State College Area), Jaelyn Stetz (Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead) and Alana Fisher (Athens. Ala./Alabama Connections Academy).
On the uneven bars, Eastern Michigan was led by Kyrie Lowe (Lake Worth, Fla./Park Vista) who had a 9.825 for the Eagles. She finished ahead of Boris and Keeley Kohler (Davison, Mich./Powers Catholic), who each had a 9.725. As a team, EMU had 48.275 in the event which trailed the Golden Flashes.
The third event of the day for EMU was the balance beam. Senior Ella Chemotti (Canton, Mich./Canton) had the best score in the event with a 9.850. The score is Chemotti's best of the 2025 season so far. Lowe and Boris were right behind Chemotti with 9.825 each. The three gymnasts helped the Eagles score 48.925 in beam, which topped KSU.
Ultimately, the Eagles finished the day on the floor. They were led by Boris, who had a 9.875. The score was good enough to finish second place of all competitors in the event with Fisher and Brushwood right behind with a 9.800. The totals ended a day in which Eastern Michigan had a season-low 194.525 points.
