CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) -- Eastern Michigan University senior gymnast Raisa Boris earned Mid-American Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week honors, the MAC office announced Wednesday, Jan. 22.
Boris (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center), who holds a 3.93 GPA in Elementary Education/Early Childhood Comp, was also named MAC Gymnast of the Week Tuesday, Jan. 21.
She received the honor twice in 2024 and led the EMU gymnastics squad to a quad win in the Golden Girls Classic, Jan. 17, by posting a 39.125 all-around score as the Eagles' lone all-around competitor.
Boris finished in the top 10 in all four events as her day was highlighted by a second-place mark in beam with a 9.825. Boris also had at least a 9.8 in bars (9.825) and floor (9.800). The Brooklyn Park, Minn. native helped Eastern to a 195.125, good enough to top MAC foes Ball State and Northern Illinois as the Eagles improved to 4-0 for the first time since at least the 2001 season.
Boris' 39.000 all-around average tops the MAC as does her 9.825 mark in bars. She also ranks fourth in the MAC in floor with a 9.838 average.
The Minnesota native is Eastern's fourth MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week winner during the 2024-25 academic year as football's Jesús Gómez won it twice in the fall and women's basketball's Olivia Westphal was also recognized.
Joining Boris in this week's MAC Scholar-Athlete recognition was Akron pole vaulter Hunter Garretson, who was named the MAC Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week.
