EMU WBB to Face Georgia State in MAC/SBC Challenge, Feb. 8

Eagles will travel to Atlanta to face the Panthers in second half of the Challenge
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) -- The Mid-American Conference and Sun Belt Conference have announced the second set of pairings for the 2024-25 MAC/SBC Challenge with the Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team drawn to face Georgia State University Saturday, Feb. 8, at a time to be announced. The MAC/SBC Challenge opened Nov. 4 with the women of the MAC playing host to their SBC counterparts and will see the SBC play host to the MAC this time around. In the first set of games, the MAC won 8-of-12 contests for an 8-4 lead.
EMU (1-13, 0-4 MAC) and GSU (7-9, 1-4 SBC) will be meeting for just the second time in the history of the series. The Eagles scored a 69-59 win over the Panthers, Nov. 12, 2016, at Morehead State University's Donna Murphy Classic in Morehead, Ky., in the first meeting between the two schools.
The Eagles are 1-2 in the MAC/SBC Challenge after dropping a 75-71 decision to visiting Texas State University, Nov. 4, in the season opener for both teams. Eastern was 1-1 last year in the inaugural event as it opened with a 62-58 loss at Georgia Southern University, Nov. 11, 2023, before scoring an 81-69 win at home over the University of South Alabama, Feb. 10, 2024.
Next up for the Eagles is a home MAC contest against the University at Buffalo, Wednesday, Jan. 15, inside the George Gervin GameAbove Center in Ypsilanti. The game, slated for a 6:30 p.m. tip-off, will be streamed live on ESPN+. Fans can also listen live on WEMU (89.1 FM) and The Varsity Network with Tom Helmer on the call.
